The trip, held from October 15 to November 4, 2024, coincided with the 136th Canton Fair in Guangzhou, China, one of the largest trade exhibitions in the world. CBG’s SME clients engaged with suppliers in various sectors, including consumer electronics, household goods, and healthcare, while exploring opportunities for exporting their goods to international markets.

Participants gained valuable insights, learning to negotiate effectively, explore diverse supply options, and understand trade terms and procedures. CBG ensured skilled resource personnel fluent in Chinese and familiar with local business practices accompanied the delegation, helping bridge cultural and language barriers and ensuring secure transactions.

Additionally, the participants were introduced to Chinese culture, negotiation strategies, and best practices for identifying reliable business partners. They toured major trade hubs, including the Canton Fair and specialized markets for electronics, textiles, jewelry, and leather goods, tailored to their business needs.

Emmanuel Nikoi, CBG’s Director of Retail & Business Banking, highlighted the bank’s commitment to enhancing the capabilities of Ghanaian SMEs. “By equipping our clients with essential trade skills and helping them build strategic relationships, we support their growth and, ultimately, Ghana’s economic progress,” he said.

CBG aims to offer similar trade missions in the future, empowering more Ghanaian businesses to expand into global markets.
