Economic Dialogue: Economist Kwame Pianim Assures Youth of Practical Solutions to Create Jobs——Renowned economist, Kwame Pianim is assuring all Ghanaian youth that the ongoing National Economic Dialogue will provide practical solutions that will transform the country and create sustainable job opportunities.

The NPP member and a statesman, who is part of the focused groups tasked to find solutions to specific areas of the economy, says the solutions will not be abstract and far-fetched but practical and actionable to drive sustainable growth.

The economist gave this assurance when he spoke to Brand Focus Africa after the opening session of the first day of the 2-day event.

He further advised the youth to take advantage of the opportunities that the outcomes of the dialogue will create to build a prosperous country.

“The President has asked us to come up with practical programs that will help us towards the Ghana we want. The youth should work hard. We are building this country for you. We are going to create the opportunities for you to work,” the renowned economist indicated.

Even before the dialogue comes to an end, the remarks of Mr. Kwame Pianim signal a renewed effort to fundamentally tackle critical challenges such as youth unemployment, economic instability. and structural problems of the economy.

Already expectations are high that the recommendations from the dialogue will not remain on paper but will be translated into real policies that will change the direction of the Ghanaian economy.

As of September last year, data from the Ghana Statistical Service indicated a concerning rise in the country’s unemployment rate, which climbed to 14.7%. The situation is particularly severe among the youth, with the number of unemployed individuals aged 15 to 35 surging from 1.2 million to over 1.3 million within a year.

This sharp increase in joblessness among young people is worrisome, given their significant share of the nation’s population. The trend has sparked growing concern among policymakers, economists, and the public, raising critical questions about Ghana’s economic prospects and the broader social consequences of persistent youth unemployment.

The assurance from a respected economist like Kwame Pianim offers some hope that this dialogue will not be another talk shop, but a decisive step toward economic recovery and transformation.
