The Bank has pledged support for youth entrepreneurs in agriculture, emphasizing funding, innovation, and collaboration to ensure environmental and economic sustainability.
The Managing Director of Fidelity Bank, Julian Opuni, has pledged to support youth entrepreneurs especially, in the agricultural sector to foster growth.
“As a bank, we want to give these young minds the right mix of funding and technical assistance to protect the food basket of this country through technology”, he said.
He said by empowering start-ups and entrepreneurs with the resources they need, it will help the youth leverage on green technologies to cultivate a culture of innovation.
Mr Opuni was speaking at the 3rd sustainability summit on the theme: “Ensuring Environmental And Economic Sustainability: Collaborating for a Greener Future”.
“We believe that these innovations will play a vital role in ensuring both environmental resilience and economic progress,” he added.
Fidelity Bank over the years has supported the youth with a GH¢1 million allocated fund through the Fidelity Young Entrepreneurship Fund.
From developing technologies for urban farming to developing machinery to support smallholder farmers in the communities that raised them, these entrepreneurs have shown us that the solutions for our agricultural challenges are not out of reach from us. They lie in the bright minds of the young people that we see every day.
However, building a greener future requires that we bring together diverse voices and perspectives across industries, sectors, and communities. Whether through public-private partnerships, engaging with NGOs, or co-creating with innovators, we must recognise that our collective efforts are the key to success.
“It is our mandate to be part of that rejuvenation process and to ensure that the next generation, your children, your grandchildren are happy that you contributed to a worthwhile future they had the resources and policies in place to give them the future they deserve”, the Managing Director said.
He added that the impacts of climate change, resource depletion, and environmental and biodiversity degradation are no longer distant threats—they are here, affecting lives and livelihoods, therefore, it is our responsibility, as stewards of this generation, to address these issues with the urgency and resolve their demand.
