G6 Leaders Chart Bold Vision for Africa’s Digital Future at MWC25—-Africa‘s digital transformation extends far beyond mere connectivity, emphasizing opportunities in education, healthcare, financial inclusion, and economic growth, according to the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) Africa and the Africa Group of Six (G6) mobile network operators.

Comprising CEOs from Airtel Africa Group, Axian Group, Ethio Telecom, MTN Group, Orange Middle East and Africa, and Vodacom Group, the G6 is spearheading efforts to fast-track digital innovation across the continent.

At the Mobile World Congress (#MWC25) in Barcelona, industry leaders gathered to assess progress, share insights, and strategize the next steps for Africa’s digital evolution. Founded in Rwanda in 2023, the G6 described the Barcelona meeting as a key milestone in its mission to accelerate digital transformation.

The group highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships, data-driven solutions, and innovative approaches in driving policy reforms, broadband investments, and environmental sustainability. It reaffirmed its commitment to working with all stakeholders to achieve Africa’s broader digital and socioeconomic objectives.

“Africa’s digital transformation is not just about connectivity; it’s about creating opportunities in education, healthcare, financial inclusion, and economic growth,” the G6 stated during the conference. “Our initiatives are critical to ensuring that no one is left behind in the digital revolution.”

Since its launch, the G6 has urged governments to adopt progressive policies that enhance mobile technology‘s inclusive benefits and address investment and usage gaps.
