ICUMS Data Fully Recovered, Ghana Link Assures Stakeholders

ICUMS Data Fully Recovered, Ghana Link Assures Stakeholders——-Ghana Link Network Services Ltd, operators of the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS), has assured stakeholders in the shipping, logistics, and transport sectors that no data was lost following a temporary system interruption on October 23, 2024.

ICUMS Data Fully Intact

Responding to concerns raised by The Transport Forum Ghana LBG, Ghana Link clarified that all historical records and attached documents from 2020 to 2024 remain securely stored within ICUMS. While some users may have experienced temporary access issues due to a system optimization process, all data remains retrievable with full integrity.

System Upgrade, Not a Shutdown

Ghana Link noted that the October 23 system event was not a failure or deliberate shutdown, but rather a planned upgrade of storage infrastructure aimed at enhancing system performance, data security, and storage efficiency. The upgrade was completed within a short period, and ICUMS operations resumed seamlessly.

Strict Adherence to Data Protection Regulations

The company reaffirmed its commitment to the highest data protection and security standards, ensuring full compliance with Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). Ghana Link assured stakeholders that no breach of data confidentiality occurred, and the system upgrade was executed with utmost care to strengthen reliability and security.

Support for Freight Forwarders and Businesses

Ghana Link reassured freight forwarders, businesses, and industry stakeholders that all trade records, customs entries, and attached documents remain fully accessible through ICUMS. The company pledged its committment to delivering a robust and efficient trade facilitation system for seamless customs operations in Ghana.

ICUMS was introduced in 2020 as a single-window customs clearance system developed to streamline and enhance revenue collection, trade facilitation, and border security.

It replaced the previous systems run by GCNet and West Blue Consulting and is managed by Ghana Link Network Services Ltd in partnership with the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
