Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Osagyefo Freedom Jacob Caesar or Cheddar, is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Kwarleyz Group. The Group comprises of 5 subsidiaries: Wonda World Estates, Petronia City Development, New Africa Construction, Belfast City and Property Management Services and New Africa Construction that have successfully executed a large number of complex and landmark projects that have transformed the city skyline of Accra, Ghana and span an array of innovation in different sectors– residential, commercial, industrial and national real estate.
Growing up both in Ghana and the United Kingdom, he learnt to let his world evolve around the area he finds himself per time. Being known as a ‘People’s Person’, Nana Kwame has found that nature is the greatest source of wisdom.
Acknowledging Ghana as the best place to do business as a result of the tolerability of the people and the business environment, he has turned out to be quite a successful business mogul, a real estate entrepreneur, an industrialist, and above all a philanthropist. Known for his real estate fortune, he is identified with the luxury, plush and exquisite buildings dotted across the country, an example of which is the famous ‘No. 1 Oxford Street’ property.
At a tender age, the Young Bediako honed his entrepreneurial skills and ventured into his first business. While at College, Nana Kwame furthered his entrepreneurial journey via selling of clothes suggested to him by a friend. With profits made from his trade, he used this money wisely and consequently managed to buy his first car at age 16.
His unquenchable appetite for success in business led him into the scrap metal business that made him his first £1 million. Upon realising the effectiveness of his business acumen, Nana Kwame Bediako quickly transitioned from the scrap metal business into the telecommunication’s industry where he created a company that billed people whenever they used the internet, which was then starting to gain popularity. After running his telecommunication’s company, Global Telecommunications and Utilities (GTU), for a while, he put it up for sale and made £410,000. The sale of the company convinced him to move back to Ghana in 2002 to commence developmental projects such as Wonda World Estates. In 2015, the passionate young entrepreneur launched a $4 billion project, Petronia City. This 2000-acre city development project provided the first fully integrated business hub for West Africa’s oil, gas, mining, renewable energy, financial, manufacturing, digital, technological, agricultural and educational demands. Thus triggering an industrial revolution that would act as a template for replication across the whole of Africa.
For over two decades he has been a successful developer in the Ghanaian real estate sector. His real estate portfolio currently has over 500 units. The remarkable list of Nana Kwame Bediako’s properties has made him a household name.
Acknowledging his impact in the last two decades, Mr. Bediako has been celebrated and honoured by various institutions through plaudits, plaques and awards. Nana Kwame Bediako won the ‘Best Residential High-rise Ghana’ at the African Property awards. Not one to rest on his diligent oars, he won the ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ awarded by the Duke of Edinburgh’s International. Similarly, Young entrepreneurs’ awards rewarded him with the ‘Estate Entrepreneur of the Year’.
One of the hallmarks of every enduring business personality is embedded in the vision they are able to visualize and actualize. Realizing his execution of such qualities, he won the ‘Visionary Developer of the Year’ at the Red awards. He, likewise, received the ‘Presidential Globe Africa Heroes Honours’, ‘Entrepreneurial Excellence in Africa Award’ and ‘Overall Young Professional and Role Model of Africa Award’ at the YPYC. Mr. Bediako equally has received a ‘Guba and Rising Star Award’, with ‘Gocai Award’ following suit.
Nana Kwame Bediako, having acquired strength to withstand all challenges in his entrepreneurial journey, acknowledges there’s a Supreme hand that directs him in every step of his way. Spirituality has always been the backdrop of all his endeavours and undertaking and it has been the basis of his entrepreneurial journey. Given to philanthropy and making the society a better place, Freedom Jacob Caesar adhered to his social responsibilities by establishing the New Africa Foundation, a non-profit organisation, through which he gives back to the society. The New Africa Foundation empowers the next generation of African leaders by identifying, cultivating and nurturing outstanding talents among the youth of Ghana and Africa at large. He empowers the new generation of African leaders through this initiative by promoting the Feed 10,000 Children program and providing free or affordable housing opportunities for low-income families. Known as a reserved personality, he doesn’t speak a lot about his giving. He notes that “Giving is giving. Not to be spoken about”, but he stresses the importance of ‘sensible giving’. He invests in people, helps people irrespective of their status– the privileged, the middle and the lower class and as well invests in institutions– a notable example is the purchase of a whole tertiary institution he gifted a Christian mission allowing 3000 students to get an education.
Also, his kind nature was exemplified when Ghana was about to go on lockdown, where he and his team went on the streets of Accra to provide food aid to the people.
Freedom Jacob Ceaser sees himself as the new hope of the African youth, a freedom fighter, the Prince of Africa, the one with the voice, the people’s people, the one to continue the legacies of the likes of Dr. Kwame Nkurumah, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jn., Emperor Haile Selassie, Malcom X, and all the great warriors of Africa.
