Over 45 Agenda 111 Hospitals Set for Commissioning, Says Dennis Miracles Aboagye

In a significant development for Ghana’s healthcare sector, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, spokesperson for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming 2024 elections, has announced that over 45 hospitals constructed under the government’s Agenda 111 initiative are ready for commissioning. Speaking on Joy News’s AM Show with Benjamin Akakpo on November 4, 2024, Aboagye confirmed that these hospitals are fully built and prepared for immediate use.

“Between 45 and 47 of them will be commissioned before the end of the year,” Aboagye stated, highlighting the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure. He elaborated that most of the hospitals are nearing completion regarding equipment installation, with five of them located in the Ashanti Region.

The Agenda 111 project, an ambitious healthcare initiative launched under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration, aims to construct a total of 104 mega hospitals across the nation. The initiative is a cornerstone of the government’s efforts to improve access to quality healthcare and has an estimated cost of approximately $7.65 billion. The project encompasses seven regional hospitals, two regional psychiatric hospitals designated for the northern and middle belt zones, and one national psychiatric hospital in Accra.

With the potential for improved health outcomes, the initiative embodies the government’s vision for a healthier nation.
