The Tsadidi Street Art Festival celebrated arts and culture in Keta from November 1-3, featuring educational talks, art processions, and traditional performances during Hogbetsotso.
This year’s Tsadidi Street Art Festival, celebrating arts, culture, and tourism, officially took place from Friday, November 1, to Sunday, November 3. The festival, named after the Ewe word for tourism, was held at Keta (Fort Prinzenstein) during the Hogbetsotso Festival.
Founded by Ghanaian visual storyteller GlennSamm, the festival showcased the rich heritage of the Volta Region under the theme “Cultural Experiment.” It began with an educational talk for visual arts students at Keta and Anloga, followed by a storytelling and bonfire night on Friday, November 1.
Saturday, November 2, saw an art procession through Keta featuring traditional attires, culminating in art installations, graffiti, and cultural performances.
Tsadidi Street Art Festival has become a key part of the Hogbetsotso Festival, offering recreational activities to visitors. GlennSamm, the creator of the festival, explained that it was designed to provide an organized and structured show for those attending Hogbetsotso. He noted that after the traditional rites and the festival’s climax, which usually ends with a durbar, not much happens, so Tsadidi offers a variety of entertainment with a focus on the arts.
This year’s festival was organized by MiPrime Entertainment and sponsored by Global and Suvinil Paints. GlennSamm, who won the Fashion Influencer of the Year at the 2022 Pulse Influencer Awards, reflected his experience and creativity in the third edition of the Tsadidi Art Festival.
